Chapters 19 and 20 : Reports about Ibne Hawash al Muqbil of Damascus and Zaid bin Amr bin Nufayl

Before the proclamation of prophethood the circumstances of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) were similar to the present situation before the reappearance of Imam Mahdi(a.t.f.s)

At that time only the scholars had information regarding the prophethood of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) and Islam was in a poor state. When a prophet used to pray for the advent of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) the ignorant and deviated people used to make fun of him and say:
a) When will that prophet arise?
b) Who according to your view will be the owner of the sword?
c) Whose call shall spread in the east and the west and to whom will submit the kings of the world?

Similar questions are raised by skeptics today in relation to Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s)

A group denies him and another group accepts him.

The author narrates two incidents of people recognising the prophet before his advent.

In the first incident the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) has himself reminded a Jew named Kaab to whom the signs of his appearance were previously mentioned by Ibne Hawash al Muqbil of Damascus. Ibne Hawash while admonishing Kaab had accepted that he himself has taken up the path of piety in anticipation of the Holy Prophets (s.a.w.a) advent. He had also informed him of the migration of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) and the mark of Prophethood which would be embossed between the shoulders of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a)

In chapter 20 it is mentioned that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a) used to pray for Zaid ibn Amr and said about him that:
“He had belief (in me) and was in search of the true religion and he died while in pursuit for it.”

Zaid bin Amr bin Nufayl had come out of Mecca in search of the true Abrahamic religion. He travelled many places making inquiries from scholars and priests.

He came to know about a pious person in Balqa who possessed complete knowledge of the Christian faith. So he went to meet him and inquired from him about the true Abrahamic faith. He was informed that soon a prophet will arise in the same town from where he had come.

Upon hearing this, Zaid immediately started the return journey but was killed on the way.

May Allah give us the taufeeq to walk the path of guidance like Zaid ibn Amr in waiting for Allah’s representative and be fortunate to be a part of His (a.t.f.s) prayers.
