Excerpts from Book An-Najmuth Saaqib ( Part 8 )
Let us know our Imam
Chapter Two: (Part 4)
Names, titles and Kunniyats of Imam (a.s.) and the reason of naming him as such
Today Inshallah we will complete our discussion of the 12 titles of Imam Mahdi (atfs) out of the 182 titles mentioned in Chapter two of the book.
10.Al-Watr (الوتر)
The meaning of this title is one and alone; the unique in excellence and perfection, which can be possible in any human being.
11.Waliyullaah ( ولي الله)
Imam is called by this title repeatedly in traditional reports. It is reported that on the night of Meraj Allah the Almighty remembered him by this title by announcing that “He is My Wali, by truth.”
It is narrated in the book Kefaayatul Asar that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) said: “When the time of advent will arrive, his sword, which would be in a sheath, will call out: Arise O Wali of Allah.”
12.Al-Waaris(الوارث)
It has come in the Sermon of Ghadeer about him that:
“Know that he is the heir of all knowledge and perfections, ranks and signs of all the prophets, successors and his forefathers.”
It is mentioned in some reports that the original heavenly scriptures are kept in a cave in Antioch and that Imam Mahdi(as) will bring them out.
It is mentioned in Al-Kaafi that Imam Sadiq(as) said: The Master of the affair will leave Medina for Mecca with the inheritance of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.).
He further explained that this inheritance includes: His sword, his armor, turban, staff, his weapons and his saddle.
The titles mentioned in this chapter have been divinely bestowed on Imam Mahdi(a.t.f.s.) and therefore introduce us to his various excellent characteristics.
Inshallah next week we will begin with the third chapter wherein his distinguished characteristics will be further elucidated.
