We now intend to release excerpts from the book An-Najmuth Saaqib fee Ahwaali Imaamil Hujjatil Ghaaeb. Insha’Allah, in this session we will brief ourselves about the author.
About the Author:
Full Name: Mirza Hussain Noori Tabarsi (famously called as Mohaddis Noori) (r.a.)
Father’s Name: Mirza Mohammad Taqi
Date of Birth: 18th Shawwal, 1254 A.H.
Death: 26th or 27th Jamaadius Saani, 1320 A.H.

Brief History:
After the demise of his father when he was just 8 years old, Maula Muhammad Ali Mahallati (a great jurisprudent of that time) took him under his care.
Thereafter he travelled to different places and studied under great scholars. In the year 1286 A.H. after performing Hajj for the second time, he joined the classes of Mirza Buzurg Shirazi (r.a.) in Najaf.
In the year 1291 A.H, Mohaddis Noori (r.a.) migrated to Sammarah along with his teacher. Here he became very close to his teacher and discharged most of the duties. In fact when the famous tobacco ban came in place, he was the one who addressed the letters to various Ulema of that time to support the ban.
In the year 1312 A.H. after the demise of his teacher, he returned to Najaf and stayed there till his demise in the year 1320 A.H.
A Day in the life of Mohaddis Noori (r.a.)
An hour before morning prayers he would go to the Holy Shrine & standing behind the door of Qibla would recite Namaze Shab till the shrine opened. He would be the first visitor every day. His mornings would be spent in proof-reading and collecting books of traditions and other books. He allotted the post Asr time for writing and would study after Isha prayers till he would go to bed.
Walking of Karbala from Najaf
After the demise of _Shaykh Ansari (r.a.)_, a time came that going on foot to Karbala was considered as a sign of poverty. _Mohaddis Noori (r.a.)_ took notice of this and he revived the custom. He along with his companions walked to Karbala and this led to a tradition which people adhere till date in large numbers.
Students of Mohaddis Noori (r.a.)
He taught and trained many students. The most prominent amongst his students was Shaykh Abbas Qummi (r.a.) who is famous for his compilation of the books Mafateehul Jinaan (book on Duas and Supplications) and Nafasul Mahmoom (regarding Imam Hussain(a.s.) and tragedy of Karabala).
Works of Mohaddis Noori
He has authored around 30 books. One of the famous book is Mustadrak Wasaelus Shia which is taught in the Islamic Seminaries till date.
Insha-Allah in the next week we will present to you a brief outline of the book An-Najmuth Saaqib.
May Allah elevate the status of Mohaddis Noori (r.a.). May we also get the good fortune to remain steadfast in the service of the Imam of our Time.. Ameen
